Archetypes including the Pin-up, the Pope and the Goddess sit alongside minute flowers and super-sized cigarette lighters. With theatrical subversion this exhibition questions our relationship to objects of desire and the violence of looking.

The Smokehouse Gallery is a 6000 sq ft art project space. The Gallery opened this year and has unrivalled views of the new Olympic stadium in East London’s Hackney Wick. ‘Spectacle’ presents carefully chosen works including large drawings, photography, painting and performance from both emerging and acclaimed London based and international artists.

The eight artists are Mercedes Baliarda, Rosie Emerson, Nick Fox, Michael Jones, Kirstie Macleod, Casey McKee, Andrea Stokes and Wen Wu.
