Mercedes Baliarda creates intricate drawings and delicate photographs of minute flowers, which outsize the viewer giving them unnerving poignancy and presence as well as a sense of tragic beauty. Argentine artist Baliarda recently finished her MA at Chelsea School of Art and Design. She has work in a number of collections including the British Library. She currently lives and works in London.
Artist Rosie Emerson has dedicated her practice to exploring beauty, power and voyeurism interwoven within the subject of the female image. Drawing from archetypes old and new she creates superficial replicas akin to fashion iconography. Rosie has completed several large commissions as well as exhibiting widely in the UK and internationally.
Nick Fox’s paintings are a combination of romantic desire and explicit eroticism, decorative pattern and loaded symbolism. Nick is an RA graduate, was born in South Africa, he has recently shown at MOCA, London, Jerwood contemporary painters, Jerwood Space and The Baltic Frame, Arena Gallery as part of the Liverpool Biennial.
Michael Jones graduated from Kingston University in 2005.Michael’s large scale paintings deal with a mystification, even veneration of the mundane, ordinary, often unnoticed objects. Michael’s paintings present the cigarette lighter as a quasi-religious motif. Abstracted from any locale, his subjects are elevated to the symbolic. Michael is regularly invited to exhibit throughout the UK and has work in a number of private collections.
Kirstie Macleod is a London based artist whose work explores issues of identity, storytelling and the passage of time through textiles, sculpture and performance.
Having trained in various theatrical and costume based disciplines, her large scale and often immersive installations reference dreamlike states and emotions. Kirstie has shown in galleries including Philips de Pury, The Barbican, Paradise Row and Art Dubai 2009
Casey McKee worked as a professional photographer for magazines in the US and Europe before he took up a career as an artist marrying photography and painting. He photographs staged scenarios with an alertness of socio-political themes. Casey McKee is an American born artist currently living and working in Berlin. Casey has had sell out exhibitions throughout much of the United States as well as Germany and London.
Andrea Stokes presents 14 photographic portraits of women ‘rescued’ from their Victorian peep show machines. Born in 1961, Andrea studied at Slade School of Art; her solo exhibitions include an installation at Portsmouth Cathedral. She was awarded the Fleming trust residency and The Hungry Dog Press recently published her book. Andrea currently lives and works in Hampshire and teaches at Kingston University.
Recent RA graduate Wen Wu creates superbly executed figurative oil paintings, born from a passionate obsession with beauty. As a girl, Wen’s heart was captivated by female beauty, however her recent work explores the beauty of young men through the eyes of her alter ego; a timeless, middle aged, gay man.
